The PLANETS series of six acrylic paintings was created in 2022, when I was 93 years old. After completing several series of abstract paintings earlier that year (PATTERNS; WEAVING PATTERNS; TRANSITIONS; FADE-OUT; ALPHABET; SPIRALS), I proceeded to create the PLANETS series.
It's fascinating how the human mind is inspired by simple images to create more complex and meaningful ones. A stencil of different-sized circular shapes made me think of a planetary system. By employing the ancient art of stenciling, I used two colors to give the illusion of space in each of the paintings in the PLANETS series.
